New holiday stockings

6 01 2017

Here are my most recent Christmas stocking creations.

In the past, I have made stockings mainly for the cats, but this time they were made for two of the kind humans who take such good care of the cats,  just like Dave and Wendy do.  (See their stockings seen HERE.)

Shannon’s was a lot of fun to make and is the only one on which I’ve used different colored flosses for the name.  This fabric was so fun and wacky that I thought the multi-colors would work well.

Since I’m always keeping count, these two bring the total count up to 15.   I hope Santa fills these and all the others with treats and fun every year.

New Kitty Stockings–‘Tis the season

18 12 2015

Well, it’s happened again.  Hang on for the story of Cat Stockings Numbers Ten and Eleven.

In 2015 I welcomed two new members to my extended family and here they are:  the charming brothers, Joliet Jake and Elwood, who are fortunate enough to live with my brother Dave and his wife Wendy.  They have been best buddies with each other since day one.

So, of course, they needed stockings for the Christmas holiday.  Luckily for them, I love to make these.

Love Jake’s font, just perfect for him.

Two new works-in-progress

9 10 2015

I have a pile of quilts that I have almost finished quilting, just a few more finishing touches.  Since I can’t showcase them here yet, I will show the two projects that are just getting started, always a fun part of the process.

The first is another of the Pyramid block quilts that I really love, having made a lot of them using many different sized triangles.

I don’t know where this one will end up design-wise, but I know this is how I wanted this part to be—-a big jumble of all these yukata fabrics smashed together.  Half triangles will finish off the ends of the  rows so that this center will be a straight rectangle.  What comes next is TBD.

And the second WIP (which will be immediately followed by another similar one) is the beginning of the lettering on a Christmas stocking for one of the two new kitties in my extended family.

“J” and padding for “a” are completed.

These are so fun to make.  Stay tuned to see the finished products; I think they will be special.

Holiday Stockings

6 12 2013

There are two new cats in my extended family, and I was reminded that they did not have stockings for the Christmas holidays, like all the others cats before them have.

Eager to remedy that situation, I made these two stockings.  I have always had fun making stockings, and these were no exception.

One for the loyal Whiskey Pete—–

And one for the lovely Bernadette—

My quilting mini-group members asked me how I got my machine to do the stitching of the names, and I had to brag that it was all done by hand, perhaps my favorite part.

Here are some close-ups—
